Violinist Lea Clara Hausmann, born in Frankfurt, appears on international stages as both a soloist and chamber musician. Since 2019, she holds a Guest Faculty position at Cambridge University in London.
She made her solo debut at age 8 with the Frankfurt Chamber Orchestra and has since performed on stages in 43 countries worldwide. In 2019, she appeared as a soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, conducted by Jamie Philips.
Lea’s musical journey began at age four, later studying with prominent teachers like Prof. Daniel Gaede at the Nürnberg University of Music and Prof. Todor Pelev at the Idyllwild Arts Academy (USA). She continued her studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Lukas Hagen, graduating with highest honors. Additional mentorship came from Ilya Grubert, Rainer Schmidt, Wolfgang Redik, Ivry Gitlis, Menahem Pressler, Hatto Bayerle, Ferenc Rados a.o.
An avid chamber musician, Lea is a member of the award-winning Amatis Trio, which has earned prestigious accolades, including the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award (UK) and the Kersjesprijs (Netherlands), as well as prizes at the Joseph Joachim, Schubert, Melbourne and Haydn Competitions. The trio was named BBC "New Generation Artists" and "ECHO Rising Stars," and has released two CDs under Deutsche Grammophone distribution. They regularly perform at major venues like the Berlin Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie, London’s Wigmore Hall, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. The trio has toured extensively in Europe and Asia, and appeared in many international festivals such as Verbier Festival, Salzburg Chamber Music Festival, Utrecht Festival, Beethoven Fest Bonn etc.
In the 2024/25 season, they touring with renowned baritone Thomas Quasthoff and their thought-provoking project "Humanity in War", combining literature with chamber music.
Next to her performance activities, Lea is dedicated to teaching and nurturing young talent. She has taught masterclasses at conservatories and universities worldwide, such as Shenzhen University, Toronto University, CNSM Paris, the Liszt Academy in Budapest, the Krakow Conservatory a.o. Additionally, she has been traveling to India for several years to teach and perform at the Mehli Mehta Foundation.
Lea plays a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin, generously loaned through the Beare’s International Violin Society.
